My first time at le Pays was two years ago on a day when admission was free! The staff do an awesome job being helpful and playing their characters. La Sagouine was there so we were very lucky indeed to see and meet her! It was great fun on Flea Island! Afterwards lunch at the buffet restaurant was delicious! We really enjoyed trying all the authentic Acadian dishes and one of the character staff members even told us how to make the dishes taste authentic with the correct condiments added as a true Acadian would which made trying the pouting rape extra tasty as we knew to try it with sugar or molasses which both went great with it! My latest visit was great as I went with an Acadian friend who had never been. The admission staff really should have been advising people that the buffet restaurant was closed to the public due to a wedding later that day as the food after the fun people, stories and music on Flea Island is half the fun. I was disappointed that I couldn't show my friend that part. Of course I knew not to expect to see the Sagouine as she had talked on my visit two years ago of retirement and her concern that they find a good replacement. She told us she thought they should have a talent competitor to find the next true Sagouine. We thought that was an awesome idea, because although the next person would never be the original at least a person filling the part would be put through their paces in a competition to show they had the right stuff to be able to tell excellent stories, sing and most of all embrace the part.

Still not sure what I paid $46 for!! Geared toward French-speakers...no info about who La Sagouine is so we felt lost and confused. Theatre plays were only in French so we didn't see those. Beautiful to see and actors were pleasant and informative but it was way too expensive for what it is. Would be helpful to have more info for the non-French population so that we know what is going on.
